One year ago, the whole nation was shocked to hear about the brutal killing of Aarushi Talwar in Noida. Today, the people may have moved on with their lives. But two people who can never forget the dreadful incident are Aarushi's parents.
On the morning of May 16, 2008, Aarushi Talwar was discovered dead by her parents, Rajesh and Nupur. The Talwars' domestic help, Hemraj, was then found on the roof of the apartment building.
A week later, Rajesh Talwar was arrested by the Noida police, which declared that Aarushi's father had found her in a compromising position with her domestic help and had killed them both in a fit of rage. Children's rights activists were outraged by the police's comments.
In December 2010, the CBI told a court it wanted to end its investigation since it had not discovered sufficient evidence against anyone. However, the CBI went on to list Rajesh Talwar as its only suspect.
On January 25, 2011, Rajesh Talwar was about to enter the court where he wanted to challenge the CBI's decision to end its inquiry into his daughter's death. A young man attacked him with a knife. Dr Talwar was seriously injured.
